A 2022 translation industry study from Smartcat noted that “quality, transparency, and turnaround time were all superior when the supply chain is transparent and clients have direct access to translators.” Transparency is the key ingredient in providing you a high-quality language service. Quality in translation does not only exist in the final product. A translation’s quality is determined by every step that goes into its production. We need to establish clear specifications around these steps in order to reach our desired quality.

Subtitling

The industry standards for subtitling quality are relying more and more on large streaming services. Unless clients have specific style needs, I rely on the Netflix Timed Text Style Guide – General Requirements. If you don’t know what your style requirements are yet, we can use this style guide as a starting point and discuss any more specific needs we may face in your project.
